About Us

The Richmond Group (RG) was constituted in October 1982. It arose from the Sole Practioners and Small Firms special interest group of the Institute of Management Consultancy (IMC), which had been meeting regularly at a hotel in Richmond, Surrey.

The Richmond Group has grown since then both in numbers and the spread of Members' locations. The Group currently has about 60 member practices based mainly in the South East of England although our network extends to the Channel Islands, West Country and Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and Scotland. We even have some members who live and work abroad, for example in Switzerland.

With its cadre of senior, experienced members who bring exceptional skills and experience to assignments, the Richmond Group rivals many of the major consultancies. Indeed it is from these large consultancies that many of our Members have gained their consultancy training and experience at senior level, while others have held important positions in industry and commerce.

Members have expertise in a very wide range of specialist areas, including organisational policy and development, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, technical and consumer market research, information systems and technology, accountancy and financial management, distribution and transport, production engineering, planned maintenance, quality control and systems, HR management and recruitment, economic and environmental planning, company formation, business administration, and general problem-solving of all kinds.
